The Davie County Board of Commissioners commit $150,000 to IGNITE DAVIE College Promise.
Mocksville, North Carolina: The Davie County Board of Commissioners have committed their unanimous support to the IGNITE DAVIE College Promise and pledged a total of $150,000 to the initiative over the next five years. Additionally, at their March 2nd meeting, the Commissioners adopted a Resolution for IGNITE DAVIE supporting the initiative and declaring March 2020 IGNITE DAVIE Month. “IGNITE DAVIE is a collaborative vision that invests in future generations by providing a path to higher education to ensure our students possess the requisite skills and training for high paying, in-demand 21st century careers. IGNITE DAVIE strengthens Davie County’s commitment to education and to developing a highly skilled workforce to meet the needs of local business and industry.” said Terry Renegar, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Davie County.
IGNITE DAVE is A College Promise Program that invests in residents of Davie County. IGNITE DAVIE puts Education at the center of our community and will ultimately spark the economic vitality of Davie County! It is a place-based last dollar scholarship; which means students must live in, and attend high school in, Davie County. Beginning with the Class of 2020, IGNITE DAVIE will pay tuition and fees with a stipend for books for students to attend DCCC fulltime. Students can pursue a Certificate, Associate’s, or College Transfer Program without incurring student debt.
